John William Babin will discuss his book, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in Portland. Thursday, June 23 at 6:30 pm Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, wrote his first childhood poem in the Congress Street home built by his grandfather, Peleg Wadsworth, before going on to pen great classics including “Paul Revere’s Ride” and “Evangeline”. Young Henry watched his father, Stephen Longfellow IV, help craft the Maine Constitution.
Babin takes us inside the historic Longfellow House and explores the city that shaped a beloved American poet.
